A wonderful location on the hills of Massa Lubrense

On the green hills of Massa Lubrense, at the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula facing the island of Capri, lies the agricultural estate "Il Convento," located 150 meters above sea level. The farm takes its name from an ancient adjacent convent, dating back to the 1300s, and belonging to the Order of Minims. This religious order followed a primitive rule that imposed a vow of poverty, and for this reason, the monks dedicated themselves to farming and a deep love for nature.

A Family Story

The history of the company began in 1935 when farmer Antonino Pollio acquired the land that had once been cultivated by the monks for the production of wine, olive oil, and rosolio, and which had later been abandoned. This was a piece of land he held dear, having worked on it for many years and learned all the cultivation techniques. The tradition continued with his son, Antonino, who in 1972 placed third in the national competition “Fight Against the Cochineal,” a parasitic insect that feeds on the sap of citrus trees. Since then, the Pollio family has revived and reinvigorated this land with its main agricultural activity: the production of lemons for the famous limoncello of the Sorrento Coast.
